Artwork > Border

Border was designed in response to geographic and demographic considerations of its site in Sonoma, California, a town with a large migrant population. Border acknowledges the manual labor provided by individuals who often risk their health and safety by crossing the U.S./Mexico border to work in Northern California vineyards.

As wine is the backbone of the region’s economy, I chose old-growth vines to represent a larger than life human backbone.
