See No/Speak No, an eight-foot by four-foot scroll drawing, was made in response to workplace harassment and discrimination- issues that sadly affect too many women.
How does one respond with dignity and grace in the face of adversity? When abuse escalates beyond the point of one’s capacity to remain silent and look away, when is it time to remove the gag and blindfold?
There are multiple ways to view this work of art. Different perspectives are presented when viewed during the day or night, inside or outside of the gallery.
During the day, from the inside, one sees the blindfold and the “ghost” of the ball gag.
During the day, from outside, only the ball gag is visible.
At night, from the outside with gallery lights on, both images appear.
At night, only the blindfold is visible from the inside of the gallery.
